Wild river in Chilean Patagonia with volcano and temperate rainforest

Chile

Los Lagos & Aysén Regions, Chile

Overview

About This Destination

Chilean Patagonia occupies the western side of the Andes, and its rivers have a character entirely different from Argentina's — colder, faster, more turbulent, with darker tannin-stained water carving through ancient araucaria forest and volcanic landscape. The rivers of the Los Lagos and Aysén regions offer world-class brown and rainbow trout fishing in a landscape of glaciers, volcanoes, and fjords that has no parallel on Earth.

Temperate Valdivian rainforest, volcanic peaks and lakes, Patagonian ice fields, fjords and river mouths cutting to the Pacific, and the wide windswept steppe of interior Aysén.
