Mountain stream in the Colorado Rockies with an angler working a deep run

Colorado

South Platte, Arkansas & Frying Pan Rivers

Overview

About This Destination

Colorado's front-range tailwaters and freestone mountain streams offer a staggering breadth of fly fishing experiences. The South Platte's Dream Stream holds enormous wild brown and rainbow trout in a high-altitude valley below Elevenmile Reservoir. The Frying Pan tailwater near Basalt produces midge and PMD hatches that test even the most experienced anglers. And the upper Arkansas, flowing through Brown's Canyon, offers exciting pocket-water fishing for wild rainbows.

Rocky Mountain high country, alpine meadows, granite canyon walls, sage-covered high plains, and the wide blue sky of the Colorado plateau.
