Tanzania
Southern Highlands & Mount Kilimanjaro Region, Tanzania
About This Destination
Tanzania is not the first country that comes to mind for fly fishing — but it should be. The cool highland rivers of the Southern Highlands around Mbeya, and the streams flowing from the slopes of Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru, support remarkable populations of wild rainbow and brown trout introduced by British settlers in the early 20th century. These fish now inhabit cold highland rivers at altitude, producing a uniquely African fly fishing experience with spectacular scenery and zero fishing pressure.
East African highland plateau, tea and coffee plantation country, miombo woodland, Kilimanjaro's slopes above the cloud, highland grassland, and the extraordinary sky of equatorial Africa.
