Utah
Green River & Provo River
About This Destination
Utah's Green River below Flaming Gorge Dam is a study in contrasts — a cold, clear tailwater flowing through the arid canyon country of the Uinta Basin, surrounded by red rock cliffs, cottonwood groves, and the vast silence of the Colorado Plateau. Mending a dry fly while canyon walls glow amber in the afternoon light is one of fly fishing's most indelible experiences. The Provo River near Heber City offers more accessible tailwater fishing with exceptional hatches.
Red rock canyon country, cottonwood-lined riverbanks, high-desert mesas, and the cold green water of a tailwater flowing from deep in Flaming Gorge Reservoir.
